Pittsburgh Police Arrest Suspect in Connection with February Murder

PITTSBURGH, PA – On Tuesday, homicide detectives from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police acquired an arrest warrant for Demetrius Caligiuri.

The arrest connects him to the murder of Rasul Aquil on February 5.

Two days later, on Thursday, Caligiuri was arrested in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh by detectives from the city’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit, along with the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force.

Caligiuri faces charges of Criminal Homicide and Criminal Conspiracy and has been moved to the Allegheny County Jail.

Another individual, Aaron Smith, had been arrested earlier related to this case and is pending trial.
