Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Area Detectives successfully located and apprehended an assault suspect with the public’s assistance and a local law enforcement agency.

On August 9, Renee Latrice Hines, a 36-year-old resident of Bakersfield, was arrested and booked for Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Her bail was set at $30,000.

The incident leading to the arrest occurred on August 6, around 6:35 p.m., at Grandee Avenue and 103rd Street in the City of Los Angeles.

Southeast Area patrol officers were called to the scene after reports of a female assaulting a taco stand employee.

The investigation revealed that the suspect, later identified as Hines, punched and pepper-sprayed the victim when asked to pay for her consumed tacos.

The victim was described as a female, Hispanic, in her 20s.

Following the assault, a bystander began recording the suspect, causing her to become angry. In response, she grabbed the taco stand sign and threw it in the bystander’s direction. She then fled the scene in a 2007 purple Lexus with a California license plate number 8VIT633.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene and treated the victim for her injuries.

Detectives worked swiftly, following investigative leads to identify Hines, leading to her arrest just three days after the assault. The cooperation between law enforcement and the community played a significant role in the successful resolution of this case.
