$4 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in Baltimore

$4 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in Baltimore

A player from Montgomery County, Maryland, who wishes to remain anonymous, claimed a $4 million second-tier prize in the Mega Millions on Aug. 11. Identifying as a “Proud Marylander,” the winner is considering retirement following the substantial win.

The winning ticket, which included the Megaplier option for an extra $1, was purchased at The Lobby Shop at 1 North Charles Street in Baltimore. The shop will receive a doubled retailer bonus of $5,000 due to the Megaplier, which increased the regular $1 million prize to $4 million.

This win emphasizes the significance of checking lottery tickets, as substantial prizes are available even without hitting the jackpot. In both Mega Millions and Powerball, the second-tier base prize is $1 million, with a third-tier prize reaching five figures.

During the recent Mega Millions run, which concluded with a $1.58 billion jackpot on Aug. 7, Maryland awarded 29 prizes of $10,000 or more. The $4 million prize was the largest, followed by two $1 million prizes, one $40,000, and three $20,000 prizes.
