DOVER, DE – The Delaware State Police have apprehended Steven Cornish, a 34-year-old resident of Seaford, Delaware, in connection with multiple shoplifting incidents at a Walmart in Dover.
On Saturday, August 5, 2023, at approximately 10:47 a.m., a trooper was dispatched to the Walmart located at 36 Jerome Drive in Dover following a report of a felony shoplifting that occurred on Friday morning. The investigation revealed that an unidentified black male had forcibly opened a locked drawer and stolen two iPhone 14s.
Later, on the same day, at around 4:18 p.m., both troopers and the Cheswold Police Department responded to another shoplifting incident involving the same suspect and two accomplices at the same Walmart. The business reported that the suspect was attempting to pry open another locked drawer while the two accomplices distracted store employees. Despite their efforts, the suspect failed to open the drawer but managed to steal a pry bar. Before leaving the premises, the Cheswold officer apprehended the suspect, who initially provided a false name but was later identified as Steven Cornish. The two accomplices, Carolyn Carey (35) and Darryl Blackwell (33), both from Dover, Delaware, were also taken into custody during the incident.
Cornish has been arrested for multiple shopliftings, while Carey and Blackwell are facing charges related to their involvement in the incidents. The Delaware State Police continue their investigation into the matter.
