Five Charged in Dunkirk Car Thefts

LOTHIAN, MD – Early Sunday morning, the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau responded to a citizen’s call reporting an attempted vehicle break-in in the 3500 block of King Drive in Dunkirk.

The 911 caller provided critical and valuable information, revealing that the suspects had fled in a stolen silver Acura. Upon further investigation, deputies located the suspect vehicle near Southern Maryland Blvd and West Bay Front End Road in Lothian.

Corporal Holt and Deputy First Class Durnbaugh quickly responded to the situation and managed to surround the suspect vehicle, forcing it to stop. The driver, identified as Gino Jacquesz Williams, 22, from Washington D.C., and a juvenile passenger were promptly detained. The third suspect, Khairi Terrance Jones, 18, also from Washington D.C., was apprehended shortly afterward.

During a thorough search of the vehicle, deputies discovered 20.7 grams of Psilocybin Mushrooms, a type of psychedelic substance, along with numerous stolen personal items such as backpacks, purses, wallets, AirPods, and an iPhone. All of the recovered property was successfully returned to its rightful owners.

Later that morning, at around 7:15 a.m., the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of another stolen vehicle in the 3500 block of King Drive in Dunkirk. The victim reported that his Subaru Accent had been stolen from the premises. Deputies diligently searched the area, leading to the swift recovery of the stolen vehicle nearby.

Williams and Jones were taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. A subsequent search at the jail revealed that Jones had the key to the stolen Subaru Accent in his possession. As a result, both Williams and Jones were charged with two counts of Motor Vehicle Theft, Theft ranging from $25,000 to $100,000, Theft between $1500 and $25,000, three counts of Rogue and Vagabond, Burglary- 4th Degree/Tools, and CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substance) Possession, specifically Psilocybin Mushrooms. The juvenile suspect was charged on a youth report and subsequently released to a guardian.
