QUEENS, NY – Roscoe Danielson, a resident of 104th Street in East Elmhurst, was arraigned on Thursday on an indictment related to the shooting of his younger brother and stabbing of his mother. The Queens District Attorney’s office reports that the brother’s body was discovered on an East Elmhurst street, while the mother was found inside their home.
According to District Attorney Melinda Katz, Danielson faces an 18-count indictment including charges of second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, concealment of a human corpse, and endangering the welfare of a child. Danielson is due back in court on September 13. If convicted, he could face up to 50 years in prison.
Evidence collected points to events that transpired on July 5, between approximately 8:15 and 8:30 am. Surveillance footage shows Danielson pushing a grocery cart on 104th Street and later, dragging an item wrapped in a comforter and bed sheets. This item was left in front of a house on 104th Street.
Later that day, 911 calls reported a strong odor and signs of blood from the comforter. Investigation led to the discovery of Danielson’s brother, 31-year-old Kyle Danielson, who had suffered a gunshot wound and multiple lacerations. At approximately 8:00 pm, officers observed Danielson pushing a stroller with a black bag from which a loaded 9mm handgun and a knife were recovered.
Lastly, a search warrant executed at Danielson’s home led to the discovery of the body of his mother, 58-year-old Cheryl Myrick, with fatal stab wounds. Investigation into this horrifying incident is ongoing.
