UTICA, NY – Jason Barber, a 41-year-old Utica resident, was recently arrested by the combined efforts of the Utica Police Department Warrants Unit and the New York/New Jersey Regional US Marshalls Task Force.
Barber was wanted for attempted murder and weapons possession offenses in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Moreover, he had outstanding warrants from the Utica Police Department for failing to update his address as a sex offender.
After weeks of search, Warrants investigators discovered Barber’s potential whereabouts on Monday. Along with Patrol Officers and investigators from the Special Investigations Unit, the Warrants Unit successfully took Barber into custody without incident.
Barber was then transported to the Utica Police Department where he was initially charged with the sex offense charges and a Fugitive from Justice Warrant.
The Utica Police Department will be cooperating with the Philadelphia Police Department who are currently working on extradition paperwork to return Barber to Pennsylvania to face the attempted murder and other associated charges.
