FREEHOLD, NJ – A traffic accident involving five vehicles claimed the lives of two motorcyclists on Monday night, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.
The Marlboro Township Police Department rushed to the northbound side of Route 18 near County Road 520 upon receiving the report of the crash.
Arriving at the scene, the officers found that a 2019 Hyundai Tucson, a 2017 Subaru Impreza, a 2008 Mercedes-Benz 550, a 2005 Suzuki GSX, and a 2001 Yamaha YZF motorcycle were involved in the accident. Both riders of the motorcycles were pronounced dead at the location.
The Tucson’s driver and their passenger were taken to a local hospital, treated for non-life-threatening injuries. A comprehensive investigation, involving the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team, and the Marlboro Township Police Department, is ongoing.
