NYC Weed Deal Turned Deadly After Buyer Refused to Pay

QUEENS, NY – Torren King, a 20-year-old resident of Beach 47th Street, Queens, entered a guilty plea for manslaughter in the first degree in connection to the fatal shooting of Numani Lambert, a 22-year-old Bronx resident, at Rufus King Park, Jamaica, in October 2020.

According to District Attorney Melinda Katz, the fatal encounter happened in broad daylight, in a public park frequented by children, ending Lambert’s life prematurely. On the day of the incident, Lambert and two others had planned to sell marijuana to a buyer who went by the online name “Pimmy Don.”

On the afternoon of October 15, 2020, at approximately 4:30 p.m., an argument over money erupted before the transaction was completed. When King, one of the two males they met in the park, refused to pay, Lambert and his friends walked away. King called them back, pulling out a gun and firing two shots at Lambert, causing him a fatal head injury.

Additional details revealed that the murder weapon, a 9mm Luger, was later found at the residence of Chance Goode, identified as “Pimmy Don”. Goode had orchestrated the robbery, sending King and instructing Jabari Curtis to drive King to the location and wait. Both Goode and Curtis await trial.

Justice Kenneth Holder is set to sentence King on October 3, to a term of 19 years in prison for manslaughter and a concurrent 10-year term for the weapon charge.
