PATERSON, NJ – Pedro Rodriguez Avalo, 30, was arrested on June 27, following the execution of a search warrant that led to the discovery of approximately three and a half pounds of suspected fentanyl powder and over 1,000 fentanyl pills.
The New Jersey State Police (NJSP) reported that the narcotics seized in Paterson had a street value nearing $1 million.
Rodriguez could have bigger problems when it comes time to explaining to his supplier why he lost a million dollars in drugs.
The arrest resulted from the investigation by the NJSP Drug Trafficking North Unit, who found an alleged drug mill operating inside a residence on Lily Street. Alongside the fentanyl, investigators also found 150 suspected methamphetamine pills and drug paraphernalia.
Avalo faces multiple charges, including operating and maintaining a controlled-dangerous substance (CDS) production facility, possession with intent to distribute CDS, and possession with intent to distribute CDS within 1,000 feet of school property.
Despite the State’s objections, Avalo was released under specific conditions, with his next court date pending.
