NEWBURGH, NY – Steven Lillo, 39, of Newburgh, has been sentenced to four years in state prison following a domestic assault case.
This announcement was made by Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler on Monday. Lillo is also subject to three years of post-release supervision as decreed by Judge Craig Stephen Brown in the Orange County Court.
On the early morning of July 25, 2021, Lillo engaged in an altercation with his wife at their home. The situation escalated as Lillo used a BB gun to shoot his wife multiple times in the head and once in the hand. This event was witnessed in part by their seven-year-old child, who alerted the police.
The investigation conducted by the Town of Newburgh Police Department led to the arrest and subsequent conviction of Lillo.
Lillo had pleaded guilty to Assault in the Second Degree just before the trial was set to begin. In his plea, he confessed to using the BB gun to harm his wife.
