PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD – The Homicide Unit of the Prince George’s County Police Department has identified and charged two individuals in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in Seat Pleasant earlier this month.
The primary suspect is 37-year-old Jesse Culley, while 21-year-old Raykia Poston of Capitol Heights is also implicated. The victim, 62-year-old Mervyn Daniel, was a fellow resident of Capitol Heights.
On July 8, around 4:20 pm, patrol officers from the Seat Pleasant Police Department responded to a distress call from the 5900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway. There, they discovered Daniel inside a restaurant, unresponsive due to stab wounds. He was rushed to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Subsequent investigations led detectives to both Culley and Poston. The latter has been charged with first-degree murder and related charges for Daniel’s stabbing, while Culley is accused of being an accessory after the fact. The preliminary report suggests the stabbing resulted from a dispute among the parties involved.
Currently, Culley is under the custody of the Department of Corrections. Meanwhile, the Seat Pleasant Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating Poston. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
