WILMINGTON, DE – The Delaware State Police arrested Iris Alpizar, a 42-year-old resident of Wilmington, Delaware, for providing false information about a carjacking incident earlier this month.
On July 10, at approximately 3:58 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a carjacking in the area of New Castle Avenue and Cherry Lane.
Iris Alpizar claimed that her car had been stolen by two unknown males who allegedly had firearms. However, after a thorough investigation by Troop 2 Robbery Detectives, evidence surfaced that contradicted the reported incident and indicated that no crime had taken place.
On July 20, 2023, Iris Alpizar visited Troop 2 in response to the investigation and was subsequently charged with Provide False Statement to Law Enforcement and Falsely Reporting an Alleged Incident to Law Enforcement Officer.
Alpizar appeared for arraignment before Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was released on her own recognizance.
