CARLISLE, PA – On Monday, July 10, at around 3:30 pm, the Carlisle Police Department was dispatched to the parking lot of Walmart due to a domestic disturbance.
The suspect, identified as John Gouse, had been in an altercation with his wife, escalating the situation to the point where shoppers and employees intervened.
Witnesses on the scene reported that Gouse started to display aggressive behavior towards those attempting to calm him down.
Amid the chaos, a small dog owned by Gouse bit a male shopper attempting to intervene, resulting in injury. Eyewitness accounts also indicate that Gouse threw the dog to the ground, injuring it.
Upon interaction with Gouse, Carlisle Police noted signs of intoxication. Gouse was arrested at the scene and transported to Cumberland County Prison for processing. He now faces charges of animal cruelty, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, confinement/control of dogs not part of a kennel, and lack of rabies vaccination.
