Columbus, OH- The Columbus Police SWAT team has apprehended a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old man.
Reko Hickson was taken into custody following a brief standoff on July 13, as SWAT officers executed a search warrant.
The incident unfolded on July 12, when Columbus Police responded to a call in the 1400 block of S. Hamilton Rd. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, Vijayakumar Nair, inside the business.
Nair, a store clerk, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was promptly transported to a local hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
Immediately after the shooting, the suspect was observed fleeing the area. Law enforcement swiftly initiated an investigation, which led to the identification of Reko Hickson as a person of interest.
The subsequent execution of a search warrant by the Columbus Police SWAT team culminated in Hickson’s arrest on July 13, following a brief standoff.
