Atlantic City, NJ – The Atlantic City Police Department successfully recovered two illegal firearms from suspects involved in separate incidents. The incidents occurred on July 16, 2023, and resulted in the arrest of two individuals.
At approximately 10:14 AM, officers Adrianna Petinga and William Harned swiftly responded to a report of a man threatening to shoot a woman at an abandoned residence located in the 100 block of South Massachusetts Avenue. Fortunately, the victim remained unharmed. As the officers arrived at the scene, they were provided with a description of the suspect.
Upon their arrival, the officers spotted Armando Rodriguez on the second floor of the residence. Rodriguez matched the description of the armed individual and refused to comply with the officers’ orders to descend to the first floor.
Eventually, the officers managed to establish contact with Rodriguez, who was found in possession of a loaded handgun concealed in his waistband. Without encountering any resistance, the officers promptly apprehended Rodriguez.
Later, at approximately 7:32 PM, Sergeant Daniel Arra conducted a routine motor vehicle stop in the vicinity of Brigantine Boulevard and Huron Avenue. During the stop, the driver, Freddie Williams Jr., was found to be carrying a handgun. Subsequently, Williams Jr. was taken into custody.
The vehicle had been flagged as part of an ongoing investigation in Stafford Township.
Arrested in connection with these incidents were Armando Rodriguez, a 42-year-old resident of Atlantic City, and Freddie Williams Jr., a 24-year-old from Mays Landing, NJ.
Rodriguez is facing charges of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a large capacity magazine, and terroristic threats. On the other hand, Williams Jr. has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.
