Man Charged Following Fatal Shooting on Hollister Avenue

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Detectives have recently arrested and charged Leon M. Williams, 23, following a fatal shooting on Hollister Avenue on July 3.

At around 10:07 p.m., officers responded to reports of a gunshot disturbance in the 2900 block of Hollister Avenue.

Upon arrival, they found a man, later identified as 28-year-old Jalanu L. Colbert, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Man Charged Following Fatal Shooting on Hollister Avenue

Colbert was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on July 9. Following investigations, Williams was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm.

He was apprehended in Virginia Beach on Thursday and is currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
