FREEHOLD, NJ – Following a botched robbery attempt in 2018, Marcus Morrisey, 52, and his nephew, Danron Morrisey, 30, were both sentenced to extended prison terms last Thursday. Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced that Marcus received a life sentence, legally defined as 75 years, while Danron was sentenced to 55 years.

The incident occurred on Saturday, November 10, 2018, when Neptune Township Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at 1030 Old Corlies Avenue at approximately 9:21 pm. Responding officers found 43-year-old Randolph Goodman suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Despite being transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Goodman succumbed to his injuries hours later.

Following an investigation by MCPO Major Crimes Bureau and Neptune Township Police Department, the Morriseys were apprehended and later convicted of multiple charges, including Murder and Armed Robbery. They are required to serve at least 85 percent of their sentences under New Jersey’s No Early Release Act.
