Edgewood man arrested for shooting

EDGEWOOD, MD – A man from Edgewood has been taken into custody and charged in connection with a non-fatal shooting incident that occurred on July 2.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division conducted an investigation and determined that on July 2, 2023, a confrontation took place between William Thomas Geary Jr., 20, and Umi Tor Adams, 24, both residents of Edgewood. The altercation unfolded in the vicinity of Candlewood Dr. and Candlewood Ct. in Edgewood and quickly escalated, resulting in Geary being shot in the upper body.

On July 2, deputies from the Southern Precinct discovered Geary at the scene, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. They promptly administered life-saving measures until emergency medical services arrived. Geary was then transported by Harford County Department of Emergency Services ambulance to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for further medical treatment.

Throughout the course of the investigation, Adams was identified as the suspect. On July 3, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Adams with attempted first-degree murder. Deputies from the Warrant Apprehension Unit apprehended Adams in Harford County on July 10 without any incident.

Adams has been transported to the Harford County Detention Center, where he is currently held awaiting an initial appearance before a district court commissioner to face his charges.
