Police Investigate Fatal Shooting on Catholic University Campus in Northeast D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A homicide investigation is underway by the Homicide Branch of the D.C. Metro Police Department following a shooting that happened yesterday morning on the Catholic University campus situated at the 600 Block of Alumni Lane in Northeast, D.C.

Shortly after 8 am, police arrived at the location to investigate a report of a shooting. Police discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

25-year-old Maxwell Emerson of Crestwood, Kentucky, was identified as the victim. Emerson was a social studies teacher and assistant wrestling coach who was visiting D.C. Acting Police Chief Leslie Parsons said in Wednesday’s press conference that he believed the victim and suspect were familiar with each other before the shooting.
