Newark Man Arrested Following Assault and Resisting Arrest

WILMINGTON, DE – David Walker, 23, from Newark, was arrested by Delaware State Police and Newport Police Department following a physical altercation and resistance to arrest on Monday.

Around 10:01 p.m., officers responded to the Park and Ride located at 1401 Centerville Road. Walker was found in a fight with a 69-year-old man, allegedly over a grocery theft attempt. Walker also resisted arrest, kicking an officer, and refused medical treatment for an open cut, flinging his blood at the officers.

Walker was charged with various crimes including Assault Second Degree to a Person Over 62 Years of Age and two counts of Offensive Touching of Law Enforcement. He was committed to Howard R Young Correctional Institution on a $6,000 cash bond.
