Cumberland, Maryland – On Saturday, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence on Henderson Avenue following a report of an assault. The victim, who had contacted the officers from their own residence, informed them that the suspect had attacked them with a shovel.
According to the victim’s account, the assault escalated when the suspect, later identified as 63-year-old Debra Lee Linaburg, brandished a gun and pointed it at their face. Several shots were fired, but it was later discovered that the weapon used was a BB gun, not a real firearm.
The victim admitted to feeling fear during the course of the attack.
Linaburg did not stop there, as she allegedly held a knife to the victim’s throat, intensifying the assault. Two witnesses were present during the incident and provided corroborating statements, affirming the victim’s version of events.
Officers returned to Linaburg’s residence, but she refused to cooperate with their instructions. Despite being informed of her arrest, Linaburg declined to exit the premises, prompting the officers to enter. Even then, Linaburg continued to resist arrest.
As a result, Debra Lee Linaburg, a resident of Cumberland, Maryland, was taken into custody and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center. She is currently awaiting her appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Linaburg is facing multiple charges, including two counts of Assault in the First Degree, three counts of Assault in the Second Degree, reckless endangerment, obstructing and hindering, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
