CLIFTON FORGE, VA – Virginia State Police are conducting an inquiry into an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Friday. The incident unfolded at approximately 2 p.m. in Clifton Forge when local police officers and an Alleghany County deputy were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1600 block of Oakhill Avenue.
Upon arrival, a male individual threatened and charged at the officers, the Virginia State Police reported. Subsequently, an officer fired his department-issued handgun, striking the man. Immediate first aid treatment was administered at the scene. The man, however, succumbed to his injuries while being transported to a nearby hospital.
The incident resulted in no injuries to the law enforcement officers involved. The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Salem Field Office is presently examining the incident, following a request from the Clifton Forge Police Chief.
