BALTIMORE, MD – As the Fourth of July approaches, Maryland residents are preparing to kick off the festivities with various events across the state. In order to ensure a safe holiday, authorities are urging everyone to prioritize their well-being when it comes to fireworks.
To guarantee the highest level of safety, the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) has registered numerous professional firework displays. These displays have met the necessary requirements and are considered reliable sources of entertainment for the public. It is crucial for individuals to understand the seriousness of handling fireworks responsibly.
While some roadside stands have been authorized to sell fireworks, it is important to note that only GOLD LABEL FIREWORKS are permitted for sale. These devices are classified as ground-based fireworks and are restricted from reaching heights exceeding 20 feet. Residents are advised against traveling outside the state to purchase fireworks, as they do not comply with Maryland Fire Code regulations and are banned within the state.
In the interest of public safety, it is strongly recommended that individuals leave firework displays to the professionals. To assist residents in finding suitable public displays, a comprehensive list of registered events leading up to the Fourth of July has been provided.
