Toms River, NJ – On Friday night emergency services responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Adams Avenue and Fischer Boulevard. The incident involved a vehicle colliding with a residence. Police, EMS, and fire units were dispatched to the scene.
According to the initial investigation, Steven Lecates, a 23-year-old resident of Florence, NJ, was traveling east on Adams Avenue when he failed to yield at a stop sign.
As a result, his vehicle collided with another vehicle traveling north on Fischer Boulevard. However, the female passenger in Mr. Lecates’ vehicle had to be extricated by members of the Toms River Fire Companies. She suffered injuries to her legs and abdomen and was subsequently flown to Jersey Shore Medical University for medical treatment.
To ensure the structural integrity of the home, an inspector from the Toms River Building Department promptly arrived at the scene. Meanwhile, Mr. Lecates received citations for careless driving, disregard of a stop sign, and failure to possess an insurance card. Officer Eric Nelson of the Toms River Police Department is currently investigating the accident.
