MINEOLA, N.Y. – On Friday, Christopher Anderson, known as CK, a 27-year-old resident of Roosevelt and alleged member of the Bloods gang, entered a guilty plea before Judge Howard Sturim. Anderson was charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder connected to a shooting at Martin Luther King Park in Freeport on November 28, 2020. In a separate incident, he also pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, for firing at four police officers during a car chase on December 29, 2020.

The 21-year-old victim, Taffarie Haughton, and another 19-year-old were both shot during the park incident, with Haughton succumbing to his injuries. In contrast, the second victim survived after receiving treatment at Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital.

In the December incident, Anderson led Hempstead Police detectives on a pursuit through Roosevelt, firing three shots at officers who had pursued his vehicle. The defendant, however, managed to evade capture that day but was arrested the following day.

Nassau County Police Department’s Homicide Squad made the arrests of both Anderson and his alleged co-defendant, Floyd McNeil, on June 13, 2022. Anderson is scheduled for sentencing on August 30, and is expected to receive a sentence of 22 years to life in prison.
