Police continue investigation into July 4th killing in Neptune after shots fired incident

NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Neptune Township Police Department and Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office are seeking information about a fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, July 4, 2022. Ayres Gray Jr., a 26-year-old Manalapan resident, was found in his vehicle on South Concourse suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was later pronounced dead at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

A party with a shots fired incident, taking place at a residence on Hillview Drive, is believed to be connected to the fatal shooting.

Investigators are currently working to determine the link between the two incidents.
