BROOKLYN, NY – Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced on Wednesday the sentencing of Tristan Murray, a 30-year-old resident of Brooklyn, to 35 years to life in prison. Murray was convicted of a shooting that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man in Flatlands.

Murray, along with an alleged accomplice, targeted a parked car in which the victim sat with his girlfriend, discharging their firearms at the vehicle.

The defendant’s alleged accomplice, Tarell Herbert, 29, also of Brooklyn, is awaiting trial on charges of second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder, and related offenses.

On September 2, 2016, at around 7 p.m., Anthony Francis, the victim, was departing from a visit with his girlfriend in Flatlands when the shooting occurred.

Murray was apprehended a day following the shooting, with a .45 caliber gun in his possession, linked to the crime scene through a comprehensive investigation by the Brooklyn South Homicide Task Force and the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
