CLEVELAND, OH – Barbara Wible, 68, the president and co-founder of Canine Lifeline, a dog rescue organization, has been indicted on Wednesday by a Cuyahoga County grand jury for severe neglect of 36 dogs leading to 13 deaths at her residence in Parma.
The case came to light on June 2, when the Parma Police Department and the Parma Fire Department were called for a welfare check at Wible’s home near West 54th Street and West Ridgewood Drive.
The officers noted a strong smell emanating from the property, upon which they discovered numerous dog cages filled with feces. They also found approximately four to five dogs that appeared to be deceased through a window.
Further investigation showed 36 dogs locked in cages for a prolonged period without food or water. All the dogs were in a malnourished condition, some having not been fed since March.
Twelve dogs were found dead at the scene, while three were transferred to a veterinary clinic, leading to one more euthanized. The remaining 21 dogs were taken to a local animal shelter.
