MANCHESTER TWP, NJ – A Seaside Heights man riding a skateboard was struck by a passing motorist in Manchester on Tuesday.
At approximately 9:00 PM, the Manchester Township Police Department and Manchester Township EMS responded to the intersection of County Route 530 (Lacey Rd.) and Lake Road in the Whiting section of the township for a reported motor vehicle crash involving a person on a skateboard.
Upon arrival, officers found Edmund Durra 4th, a 43-year-old resident of Seaside Heights, with multiple injuries, including a head injury.
Mr. Durra was attended to by Manchester EMS and subsequently transported to Community Medical Center for further treatment of his injuries.
A 2020 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Raymond Loudy, a 49-year-old resident of New City, NY, was also present at the scene, displaying visible damage to its driver-side windshield. Fortunately, Mr. Loudy did not sustain any injuries as a result of the crash.
Based on preliminary investigation, it was determined that Mr. Durra was riding on an electric skateboard, heading eastbound on County Route 530 towards the intersection of Lake Road. Simultaneously, the Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on County Route 530 and was in the process of executing a left turn onto Lake Road when the collision occurred.
Several witnesses were present at the scene and provided valuable information regarding the incident.
