Fatal Car Crash Under Investigation by Delaware State Police

WILMINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police are currently investigating a fatal accident that happened on Sunday, in Wilmington. The crash resulted in the death of two men.

The collision occurred around 4:41 p.m., involving a 2007 Kenworth Tractor and a 2002 Ford Ranger on I-495 southbound, near the 12th Street overpass.

The Ford Ranger, traveling at high speed, sideswiped the Kenworth Tractor, causing it to spin, strike the concrete embankment under the overpass, and overturn on the grass shoulder. Both the driver and passenger of the Ford Ranger, a 45-year-old man and a 52-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, were not wearing seatbelts and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Kenworth Tractor, a 35-year-old man from Spring City, Pennsylvania, was not injured in the crash.

The highway was closed for approximately four hours for investigation and clearing of the scene.
