Arrest Made in Fatal Yonkers Hit-and-Run Case

YONKERS, NY – The Yonkers Police Department reported an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run case on Friday. The incident occurred at approximately 9:37 a.m., at Executive Boulevard at Nepperhan Avenue.

An elderly man, Azhar Jamil Said, aged 78, was found unresponsive on the street and later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Detectives identified the hit-and-run vehicle as a red Jeep Grand Cherokee with Florida license plates. The Jeep was later discovered to be a rental.

The suspect, 24-year-old Yonkers resident Joseph Dimitri Delgado, was apprehended at a hotel in the Village of Elmsford. Charged with one count of Operator Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, Delgado is awaiting arraignment at Yonkers City Jail.
