HYATTSVILLE, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is currently investigating a shooting that took place last Thursday in the early hours. The victim was identified as Rodney Wells, a 28-year-old resident of Hyattsville. At this stage, detectives don’t believe that this was a random act of violence.
At about 12:30 am, police officers responded to the shooting incident on the 4000 block of Warner Avenue.
Two males, both adults, were found with gunshot wounds and were rushed to the hospital. Wells succumbed to his injuries several hours later. The second victim remains in the hospital for treatment.
Detectives are working to identify any suspects and establish a motive for the crime. The police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that could lead to an arrest and indictment in this case.
