PITTSBURGH, PA – Attorney General Michelle Henry recently announced a lawsuit against Garden Art of Pittsburgh, LLC, and its CEO, Arthur Ford, Jr. The company stands accused of not completing contracted work, despite retaining substantial consumer deposits. Allegations suggest that contracts used by the firm were not compliant with Pennsylvania law.
The legal action brought by the Attorney General’s office seeks to ban Ford and his company from performing home-improvement work in the state. “Mr. Ford has received payment repeatedly for work he never finished, which is a clear violation of the law,” commented Attorney General Henry.
In August 2022, Ford declared bankruptcy, citing damages amounting to over $262,000 owed to about 25 consumer creditors. However, the bankruptcy case has been dismissed since. Additionally, Ford faces criminal charges in Allegheny County.
The lawsuit aims to permanently prevent Ford and his company from conducting business as a home improvement contractor in Pennsylvania and seeks consumer restitution, civil penalties, and costs.
