PARKVILLE, MD – A Parkville man’s recent visit to a grocery store turned out to be his lucky day as he walked away with a $50,000 top-prize win on a scratch-off ticket. Despite only starting to play scratch-offs a few months ago, he managed to hit the jackpot and claimed his prize at the Lottery’s Winner’s Circle room this week.
The fortunate father of three revealed that he has always been a fan of jackpot games, occasionally trying his luck with Mega Millions and Powerball. However, he recently decided to spice things up by adding scratch-offs to his repertoire, and he has been hooked ever since.
During a recent trip to the Food Lion store in Nottingham, located in Baltimore County, the man purchased a variety of his favorite scratch-off games. Among his selections was a $20 ticket for the $50,000 Cash game, which caught his attention due to its numerous $50,000 top prizes. Excited to see what his luck had in store, he eagerly scratched off the ticket when he arrived home.
“I always check the winning numbers and my numbers first to see if there’s a match,” the winner explained with a smile. “And this time, I couldn’t believe what I saw.”
To his astonishment, the ticket revealed a $50,000 prize, one of the many top prizes available for the game. The popular scratch-off was introduced in December and initially offered 160 top prizes. Currently, there are 104 top prizes remaining, along with 115 prizes worth $5,000, as well as thousands of additional prizes ranging from $20 to $500.
“I’m absolutely thrilled,” said the former warehouse employee. “It just goes to show that you have to play in order to win.”
Although the Baltimore County resident hasn’t decided how he will utilize the prize money, he plans to save the winnings for now and continue playing various Lottery games, just as he always has.
In addition to the fortunate winner, the Food Lion #1413 store on Walther Boulevard in Baltimore County is also celebrating. As the retailer that sold the $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, they will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
