BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, PA – A scam burglary was recently reported in the Margate Road & Gloucester Drive neighborhood off Hecktown Road near the Community College.
An elderly resident was targeted by a male suspect pretending to be a water authority utility worker. The unsuspecting victim allowed the suspect into their home under the pretense of checking utilities, during which the suspect utilized distraction techniques and stole items from the residence.
Residents are warned not to let such individuals into their homes. If approached by someone claiming to be a utility worker, residents are advised to check for a utility-company-issued ID and contact their utility company using the phone number on their utility bill for verification.
If any suspicious activity is detected, residents are encouraged to first call the utility company using the contact information on their bill, then report the activity to law enforcement.
