SECAUCUS, NJ – A special task force, supervised by Detective Sergeant Matthew Ford, was instrumental in the arrest of three juvenile males in connection with car thefts. The incident unfolded on Friday, at 5:03 am.

Police Officer Jason Mitchell observed a black-colored Kia Forte with suspicious occupants. After refusing to stop for a police checkpoint, the vehicle lost control and crashed into a police car.

Following a pursuit, the 14, 16, and 17-year-old males were arrested with the help of responding units from neighboring jurisdictions. A search for the fourth suspect remains ongoing. Charges include receiving stolen property, obstruction of law, resisting arrest, and possession of burglar tools.

The stolen vehicle also contained items that further connected the suspects to the crimes. The 17-year-old male is currently lodged in the Union County Juvenile Detention Facility.
