GREENBELT, MD – Two teens have been arrested and charged for breaking into cars in Greenbelt.
At approximately 11:26 pm on June 9, a Greenbelt Police officer was engaged in a routine premise check in the vicinity of Cherrywood Ter and Cherrywood Ct. During the check, the officer observed several individuals walking through the parking lot and peering into parked cars.
Reacting swiftly, the officer activated his floodlights, causing the group to disperse hastily. Recognizing the need for assistance, additional officers promptly arrived at the scene to aid in locating the group. Subsequently, two individuals, identified as a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man, were apprehended by the officers.
Upon further investigation, law enforcement officials discovered a handgun with an extended magazine inside the backpack of the detained 19-year-old man. Consequently, the man was placed under arrest on multiple firearms charges.
