PHILADELPHIA, PA – A bridge collapse on I-95 in Philadelphia is expected to cause serious traffic issues for the foreseeable future. Here’s what commuters and residents need to know about what is happening on Monday.
On the morning of June 11, 2023, a vehicle fire occurred under I-95 near the Cottman Avenue exit in Northeast Philadelphia, resulting in a portion of the highway collapsing. Early reports indicate that a tanker truck was involved in the fire. Pennsylvania State Police have closed I-95 in both directions in the affected area.
The Philadelphia Fire Department successfully brought the fire under control this morning. Various city and state agencies are actively responding to address the impact on residents in the area and travelers affected by the road closure. More details will be shared as they become available.
