BUFFALO, NY – Maurice J. Land, a 35-year-old resident of Buffalo, has been sentenced to serve 2 to 4 years in prison by State Supreme Court Justice Debra Givens. Land, recognized as a second felony offender, was sentenced on Thursday.

The defendant engaged in a series of crimes throughout the early months of 2023. On Monday, January 15, Land unlawfully entered a home improvement store on Thruway Plaza in the Town of Cheektowaga, from where he stole an air compressor and accessories, collectively worth around $778, without payment. This act violated a three-year no trespass order previously issued following an earlier incident.

Similarly, on Wednesday, February 8, Land repeated his unlawful behavior at another home improvement store, this time located on Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Town of Amherst. He made off with various light fixtures valued at around $787, once again violating the aforementioned no trespass order.

On Wednesday, April 5, around 5:00 pm, Land, while a passenger in a vehicle pulled over for driving without headlines on Niagara Falls Boulevard, was discovered by an Amherst Police officer to be in violation of an existing order of protection for the driver of the vehicle.

On May 2, 2023, Land pleaded guilty to two counts of Burglary in the Third Degree, and one count of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree.
