16-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed While Struck in Union City Collision

UNION CITY, NJ – An accident occurred on Monday, when Fortunato Rojas-Solis, a 73-year-old Union City resident, was fatally struck by a Dodge Durango.

The incident occurred around 7:36 am at the intersection of Palisade Avenue and 36th Street, with the victim later pronounced dead at Jersey City Medical Center at approximately 5:15 pm.

Preliminary investigations by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Union City Police Department indicate that a 16-year-old Union City male drove the Dodge Durango.

Rojas-Solis, an employee of the Union City Department of Public Works, was on duty at the time of the accident.
