State police 'harden' Asbury Park ahead of Pride Parade

ASBURY PARK, NJ – The New Jersey State Police have announced a ‘hardening’ campaign in Asbury Park ahead of this weekend’s Pride Parade and festivities. The agency deployed its Target Hardening Unit to the city.

On Friday, New Jersey State Police recently deployed troopers to the Asbury Park area as part of a proactive security measure ahead of the upcoming Jersey Pride Parade and festival. The deployment included troopers from various units, including the Special Operations Section, Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit, Outreach Unit, and Troop “C” Tactical Patrol Unit.

During the operation, uniformed troopers were highly visible and engaged in conversations with citizens, promoting the “See Something, Say Something” campaign. This initiative encourages the public to report any suspicious activity they observe to law enforcement.

In addition to the uniformed presence, there were also troopers in plain clothes, providing an extra layer of security that may have gone unnoticed by the public. Although their presence may not have been apparent, their contribution to enhancing security was significant.

It is important to note that this deployment was not in response to any specific threat. Rather, it falls under the category of a Target Hardening Deployment, which is part of the state police’s homeland security mission. This mission relies on the active participation and cooperation of the public.

Law enforcement authorities urge individuals to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity they encounter. Reports can be made by calling 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ, emailing tips@njohsp.gov, or contacting 911 in case of emergencies. For further information, interested individuals can visit the website www.njhomelandsecurity.gov. By working together, both law enforcement and the public can contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment.
