COLUMBUS, OH – A significant update in the case of the February 22, 2023, homicide in Columbus emerged on Tuesday. Cassandra Nichole Franklin, a 40-year-old woman, was arrested on May 26, 2023, in Uniontown, Ohio, by SOFAST, acting on an outstanding warrant. After her arrest, Franklin was extradited to Columbus and is now held in Franklin County Jail.
On the night of the incident, patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence on the 2000 block of Rankin Ave at 9:41 pm. Inside, they found 36-year-old Michael Sarratt suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving attempts, Sarratt succumbed to his injuries at 10:30 pm. Investigations into the circumstances that led to this incident continue.
