Three Men Sentenced in 2021 Elizabeth Shooting

UNION COUNTY, NJ – On May 19, 2023, three men were sentenced for their roles in the 2021 shooting of 30-year-old Eliezer Martinez Jr. of Elizabeth. Union County Superior Court Judge John Deitch sentenced 17-year-old Isaiah Turner to 15 years in State Prison for aggravated manslaughter, 20-year-old Nasir Semmons to 8 years for conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and 19-year-old Kadir Epps to 5 years for unlawful possession of a weapon.

On Tuesday, June 22, 2021, Elizabeth Police Department responded to a shooting on the 400 block of Elizabeth Avenue, where they found Martinez severely injured. He was later pronounced dead at Trinitas Regional Medical Center.
