Hempstead Man Receives 14-Year Sentence for Attempted Murder and Narcotic Sales from Unlicensed Daycare Center

MINEOLA, N.Y. – Lex Lloyd, 26, from Hempstead, was sentenced on Monday to 14 years in prison for running a narcotics operation out of an unlicensed daycare center and attempting to murder a romantic rival. He pleaded guilty on February 15, 2023, to charges including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree and Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.

Lloyd was part of Operation Honeycomb, an initiative which resulted in the indictment of 40 people in March 2021. During a search at Lloyd’s residence, investigators recovered 520 grams of cocaine, 50 oxycodone pills, two narcotics presses, and several bullets. The illegal activities were conducted from daycare centers in Hempstead and Rosedale, Queens.

On February 10, 2021, Lloyd attacked a male victim, who was with his son at the time, nearly causing his death. Lloyd was subsequently arrested by members of the Nassau County Police Department.
