HUNTINGTOWN, MD – Austin M. Harris, a 25-year-old resident of Lusby, lost his life in a motorcycle collision on the evening of Thursday. Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau responded to the scene at approximately 8 p.m. on Plum Point Road in Huntingtown.

The initial investigation suggested a Calvert County Sheriff’s Deputy observed two motorcycles, one of which was driven by Harris, exceeding speed limits on the eastbound lane of Plum Point Road. After attempting to follow the motorcycles, the deputy discovered a crash site in the vicinity of the 2200 block of Plum Point Road near Ida’s Lane.

Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene where they found Harris and his black Suzuki GSX-R 1000 motorcycle off the roadway.

Harris was pronounced deceased at the scene. Tyler G. King, 26 of Huntingtown, operated the second motorcycle, a yellow custom Suzuki sports bike, and remained at the scene providing a witness statement.

The investigation continues, with early indications pointing to speed and driver error as contributing factors.
