WILMINGTON, DE – A 30-year-old Wilmington man lost his life in a fatal accident on Interstate 495 south of Philadelphia Pike last Tuesday.

As reported by the Delaware State Police, the incident happened around 10:44 p.m. The man was driving a blue 2003 Toyota Solera on the wrong side of I-495, sideswiping three vehicles before losing both front tires. The vehicle then crossed over to the correct side of the highway, where it was struck by a black 2017 Kia Forte.

The Wilmington man, who was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision, sustained critical injuries and later died at a hospital.

The driver of the Kia Forte, a 36-year-old man also from Wilmington, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation led to a closure of the Interstate 495 for approximately four and a half hours.
