MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ – John P. Rowe, a 30-year-old man formerly of Budd Lake, New Jersey, has been recently sentenced to 12 years in New Jersey State Prison for first-degree Strict Liability for Drug Induced Death and other charges. Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll announced the sentence on Friday.

The case traces back to a fatal drug overdose at the Days Inn in Mount Olive in September 2021. A 19-year-old male, identified as G.B., was pronounced dead due to fentanyl toxicity. Investigations led to Rowe, who distributed the fentanyl in Morristown, NJ, on September 21, 2021, which resulted in G.B.’s death.

During a separate investigation in June 2022, more than five ounces of Methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance, was seized from Rowe’s residence. Rowe was on probation at the time of both incidents.
