East Harlem rape suspect sought by police

EAST HARLEM, NYC – A 21-year-old woman’s conversation with a stranger in East Harlem quickly turned into an assault and rape.

Now, the New York City Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying a suspect in connection with the incident that occurred at approximately 1:40 am on Monday, in the area of East 111 Street and 2 Avenue.

According to a police report, an unknown male approached a 21-year-old woman and engaged her in conversation.

The victim attempted to flee, but the suspect pursued her, ultimately assaulting and raping her. The suspect then took the victim’s bag and cell phone before fleeing eastbound on 111 Street.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion, approximately 20-25 years old, and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with a teddy bear design, a black backpack, and a gray bag.
