WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 12-year-old boy was arrested yesterday and charged with a multitude of robberies and armed carjacking’s in Southeast, D.C over the last several weeks.
The first of nine offenses took place on March 21st, and the last offense took place on April 29th.
At around 5:00 pm on March 21st, the victim was approached by the suspect who exited a vehicle driven by another suspect on the 2300 block of Elvans Road. The suspect assaulted the victim and tried to steal their belongings. The suspect then fled the scene in the vehicle without any property.
Just after 10:30 pm on April 16th, a victim was getting into her car on the 1700 block of Gainesville Street, when the suspects approached her. The suspects pulled out a gun and demanded that the victim get out of her vehicle. The victim obeyed, and the suspects fled the area in the victim’s automobile.
At around 6:01 pm on April 17th, a suspect got out of a car driven by another suspect and approached a person who was standing outside of their car in the 700 block of 7th Street. The suspect then showed a gun and demanded the victim to hand over their car keys. The victim obeyed, and the suspect fled the scene in the victim’s car, while the other suspect fled in the original car.
Shortly before midnight pm on April 20th, the victim was approached by two suspects after they had left their vehicle on the 2300 block of Pitts Place. The suspects displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s vehicle keys. After the victim complied, the suspects attempted to escape in the victim’s vehicle but were unsuccessful. The suspects fled the scene on foot and then confronted two other victims in the same block. The suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victims’ property. One of the victims complied, and the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
Shortly after 10:15 pm on April 20th, the victims were seated in their vehicle in the 2400 block of Pomeroy Road, when the suspect exited a vehicle driven by another suspect and approached them. The suspect pointed a handgun at them and demanded their vehicle. The victims complied and exited the vehicle, and the suspect fled the scene in their vehicle. Another suspect followed in the other vehicle.
At around 8:20 pm on April 24th, two suspects approached a group of victims in the 2300 block of Pomeroy Road. The suspects showed a handgun and demanded the victims’ vehicle. However, they left the scene without taking anything. Shortly after, the suspects approached another group of victims who were sitting inside their vehicle in the same block. The suspects again showed a handgun and demanded the keys to the vehicle. The victims complied, and the suspects drove away in the stolen vehicle.
A carjacking incident occurred on April 24th at around 8:33 pm in the 1100 block of 8th Street when suspects approached a victim who was inside their car. The suspects then pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim’s car keys. The suspects then proceeded to take the victim out of the vehicle and drove away in the victim’s car.
Shortly after 2 pm on April 25th, the victim was approached by the suspects in the 2400 block of Elvans Road. One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim’s belongings. The suspects then assaulted the victim, stole their property, and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
At around 12:03 am on April 29th, the victim was approached by the suspects in the 2300 block of Good Hope Road. The suspects wielded a handgun and demanded the victim’s belongings. After the victim complied, the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
12-year-old juvenile male of Southeast, D.C. was arrested and charged with the above offenses. Police have not released if the second suspect was also arrested.
